1. Purpose of Balaa.ai

Balaa.ai supports educators, organisations, and professionals to embed authentically rich and diverse First Nations perspectives into learning and professional practice. It is designed to deepen cultural understanding, enhance curriculum alignment, and promote respectful truth-telling.

 

2. Who Can Use Balaa.ai

  • Access is available to teachers, educators, staff in schools or organisations, and individuals committed to culturally safe practice.

  • You must be over 18 years of age or have approval from a school or organisational leader to use Balaa.ai.

  • Students may only access the platform through teacher-led accounts, school-wide logins, or educational trials, in accordance with age-appropriate use and safety protocols.

 

3. Account Access & Security

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login details.

  • You must not share your access credentials with others.

  • All users must ensure that use of the platform aligns with your school or organisation's policies and codes of conduct.

 

4. Permitted Use

By using Balaa.ai, you agree to:

  • Use the platform for educational or professional purposes only.

  • Respect all cultural protocols embedded in the tool.

  • Acknowledge that the cultural knowledge, strategies, and frameworks provided are the intellectual and cultural property of TIPIAC and respective First Nations communities.

  • Not copy, share, or distribute any materials outside of your classroom or workplace unless given express permission by TIPIAC.

 

5. Prohibited Use

You agree not to:

  • Use Balaa.ai to generate or share offensive, disrespectful, or culturally unsafe content.

  • Misrepresent or distort Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander perspectives.

  • Reverse-engineer, replicate, or attempt to extract content from the platform for commercial use.

  • Use the platform for personal gain that exploits or commodifies First Nations knowledge.

 

6. Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP)

  • All First Nations content, pedagogies, perspectives, and protocols within Balaa.ai are protected by ICIP rights.

  • Content must not be altered, appropriated, or commercialised without proper permission and cultural authority.

  • Respecting ICIP is a condition of ongoing access.

 

7. Content Accuracy & Educational Use

  • Balaa.ai is designed as a learning support tool, not as a replacement for cultural consultation or direct engagement with First Nations people.

  • While we work hard to ensure accuracy, cultural integrity, and alignment with the Australian Curriculum, users are encouraged to apply professional judgement and cross-check where appropriate.

  • Feedback from First Nations communities and educators is welcomed to strengthen the platform.

 

8. Privacy & Data

  • Balaa.ai collects minimal user data for platform functionality and user support. Full details are available in our Privacy Policy.

  • User data is stored securely and will never be sold or shared without your consent.

 

9. Termination or Suspension of Access

TIPIAC Pty Ltd reserves the right to:

  • Suspend or cancel access to users who breach these Terms or cultural protocols.

  • Modify or discontinue parts of the platform at any time with appropriate notice.
